The Devon Closewool Sheep Breeders' Society
Welcome to the Devon Closewool Sheep
Breeders' Society web pages. We hope you find the material of interest
and persuade you to become involved with one of the best sheep breeds
around. The Devon Closewool is primarily a grassland sheep and is very
hardy, with a docile temperament making it ideal for the first time
flockmaster, or the commercial farmer looking for an easy care, low input
sheep. The Devon Closewool also has a dense white fleece of medium
length and staple which enables the Closewool to withstand wind and rain,
enabling the sheep to thrive in conditions that other sheep could not
withstand. A well established breed the Devon Closewool's original home was
Exmoor but it is now spread throughout Cornwall,
Devon, Somerset and parts of Wales.
